InstallationFixed using mortar with brick-coloured dye
Before installation, inspect the chimney for any cracks or debris and ensure the cement flaunching is sound. Thoroughly clean the top interior and joint face of the chimney pot. Mix brick-coloured dye with mortar and apply a neat bead to the top face. Carefully insert the cowl’s spigot into the pot, pressing lightly to ensure correct alignment. Smooth out excess mortar to create a tapered finish that promotes effective rainwater runoff. For optimal results and peace of mind, it is advisable to have the installation carried out by a professional if you are not confident in handling chimney work.

A gas cowl is used to ensure the safe conveyance of combustion gases from a gas fire through the chimney and into the atmosphere, preventing chimney blockages and promoting efficient ventilation.

Ensure your chimney is free from cracks and debris, and that the cement flaunching is sound with a secure chimney pot. The dimensions of this cowl are 380mm high and Ø 245mm, so measure your pot to confirm compatibility.

While it's possible to install a gas cowl yourself if you are confident with chimney work, we recommend hiring a professional to ensure proper installation and safety.

Regular inspections for debris, ensuring the terminal is undamaged and the mortar joints are intact and free from weathering are essential for maintaining a gas cowl.

The color is primarily for aesthetic purposes, blending with your chimney. It does not affect the functional performance of the gas cowl.

This gas cowl is compatible with most gas fires, but always check the manufacturer's guidelines or consult with a professional for specific requirements.

Yes, a properly installed gas cowl can help mitigate downdraft problems by stabilizing the airflow and ensuring effective ventilation of combustion gases.
