According to Approved Document J, proper installation height and positioning are critical for safe operation. This chimney pot is designed to be fixed onto a masonry chimney stack over the flue liner, facilitating the safe discharge of combustion gases from solid fuel fires into the atmosphere.
Prior to installation, verify the integrity of the chimney pot and confirm its compatibility with your flue system and fire type. Inspect the chimney stack for any cracks or deteriorating mortar, and repair any defects. Ensure the flue lining is intact and free from obstructions or debris.
For enhanced performance, the space between the flue liner and chimney stack should be filled with insulating material such as weak lime mortar or vermiculite cement. Additionally, a damp proof course should be placed beneath the top layer of brickwork. The flat-top design ensures a smooth passage for flue gases and facilitates easier cleaning and sweeping.
