Before installation, inspect the chimney pot for any damage and confirm its compatibility with your flue system and fire type. It is imperative that the chimney stack is free of cracks and that mortar pointing is intact. The flue lining should be thoroughly inspected and cleared of any debris to allow for unimpeded passage of gases.
A damp-proof course must be placed beneath the top layer of brickwork to prevent moisture ingress. Insulating materials such as weak lime mortar or vermiculite cement should fill the space between the flue liner and chimney stack, ensuring the chimney stack's top is flat for optimal performance.
