The VIT-Smooth 250mm Starter Pipe Ø 150mm stands out as an excellent solution for connecting flue systems for various appliances. Designed to handle gas, oil, and solid fuel appliances with temperatures up to 600°C, this robust starter pipe features a single skin made from zero carbon steel and a durable powder vitreous enamel coating in a sleek matt black finish. Perfect for making a secure connection between your appliance and a flue liner, chimney stack, or twin wall flue system, the VIT-Smooth pipe should not be used to pass through ceilings or combustible walls.Installation is straightforward with the VIT-Smooth, thanks to its friction fit joint which does not require sealing.

However, for added security, you might seal each joint with fire cement or high-temperature silicone sealant. This ensures no condensate can escape, maintaining the pipe's appearance. Bear in mind that this pipe should be installed with the smaller diameter pointing downward to retain condensates.

If necessary, the pipe can be cut to size, but ensure exposed steel is covered with high-temperature paint to prevent rusting. Always use appropriate PPE during installation. For maintenance, make sure the chimney is accessible for inspection and cleaning, particularly for solid fuel systems. Installing VIT-Smooth pipes with access doors at direction changes is advisable.

Regular chimney sweeping, especially for solid fuel appliances, is recommended at least once a year.

Installation is straightforward with the VIT-Smooth Starter Pipe. Ensure the smaller diameter end is oriented downwards to contain condensates effectively. The pipe features a friction fit joint that typically does not require additional sealing; however, for enhanced security against condensate leakage, you may use fire cement or high-temperature silicone sealant. It is imperative to note that this pipe should not be used to penetrate ceilings or combustible walls. During installation, always use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintain clear access to the chimney for future inspection and cleaning. Additionally, if you choose to cut the pipe to the required length, immediately cover any exposed steel with high-temperature paint to prevent rust formation.
