The London Gather Hood 9 x 26 inch - Ø 180 is an ideal installation fitting specifically designed for use with Mi-Flex 316 and 904 flexible flue liners. When installed together, they form a complete chimney system. This gather hood facilitates the smooth transition from the fireplace opening to the flexible flue liner, ensuring a gas-tight seal.

Compliance with Building Regulations Document J is crucial— the liner must be entirely enclosed within a masonry chimney. Suited for use with wood (<20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances up to 600°C (T600 designation), this gather hood is a versatile and essential component for efficient chimney function. It comes with an adaptor, and the metal flaps at the top allow secure attachment to brickwork.

Regular sweeping and maintenance are necessary to ensure optimal performance. For solid fuel applications, we recommend checking the chimney system twice a year—towards the end and the start of the heating season.

Installation MethodWithin a masonry chimney using fixed metal flaps and an adaptor
Before beginning installation, ensure that your chimney is a fully enclosed masonry structure as required by Building Regulations Document J. Begin by positioning the London Gather Hood within the chimney, aligning the adaptor with the flexible flue liner for a secure, gas-tight connection. Use the provided metal flaps to fasten the hood to the brickwork, employing appropriate high-temperature sealants, fire cement, or ceramic rope as needed. It is essential to double-check that all joints are properly sealed to prevent any leakage of fumes. Regular maintenance should be carried out—especially if you are using solid fuels—with at least two checks per heating season. Remember, non-masonry installations such as timber or plasterboard enclosures do not comply with safety standards.

The London Gather Hood is designed to facilitate the smooth transition from the fireplace opening to the flexible flue liner, creating an effective flow area for gases to escape through the chimney.

It is suitable for use with appliances burning wood with less than 20% moisture, smokeless coal, gas, and oil up to 600°C.

Yes, it complies with Building Regulations Document J, which requires that flexible flue liners be enclosed within a masonry chimney.

No, it must be installed inside a masonry chimney. Timber or plasterboard enclosures are not acceptable.

For solid fuel applications, we recommend sweeping twice a year: once at the end of the heating season to remove deposits, and once at the start of the next to check for blockages. For other fuels, at least once a year suffices.

Ensure the chimney system allows easy access for sweeping and regular maintenance. Avoid using chemical cleaners or mild steel tools, and consult HETAS registered sweeps for professional cleaning.

Use fire cement, ceramic rope, tape, or high-temperature sealant to achieve a gas-tight seal during installation.
