The Gather Hood Small (300x200) - Ø 180 from National Flues is an essential accessory for any solid fuel, gas, or oil appliance installation. It's specifically designed for use with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners, creating an efficient system for guiding flue gases safely up your chimney. This gather hood expands the area where gases can escape, optimising your chimney's performance.

Made from high-quality materials, it's ideal for appliances with maximum temperatures up to 600°C (T600 designation), including those using wood with less than 20% moisture, smokeless coal, gas, and oil.The gather hood includes an adaptor for easy attachment to the flexible flue liner, ensuring a secure connection at the chimney's base. To install, simply fold the metal flaps at right angles and screw them into the brickwork, securing the hood firmly in place. Remember, flexible flue liners must be fully enclosed within a masonry chimney per Building Regulations Document J, and this gather hood helps comply with those standards.Maintenance is straightforward; the chimney system should be designed to facilitate easy sweeping and inspections.

We recommend using a HETAS registered sweep for solid fuel applications, and cleaning should occur at least once a year. For solid fuel appliances, twice-yearly sweeps are advisable to clear any deposits or obstructions, such as bird nests.

Installation is straightforward: Begin by securely fixing the gather hood within the masonry chimney. Ensure the flexible flue liner is fully enclosed as per Building Regulations Document J. The gather hood comes with a pre-fitted adaptor for attaching to the flue liner. To install, simply fold the metal flaps at right angles and screw them into the masonry brickwork. It is crucial that the system is designed for easy sweeping and regular inspections. For solid fuel applications, use a HETAS registered sweep, and maintain the system with at least annual cleaning (twice-yearly for solid fuel appliances). Always use high-temperature sealants such as fire cement or ceramic rope to ensure a gas-tight seal, preventing any leakage of harmful flue gases.

This gather hood is suitable for use with solid fuel (wood with less than 20% moisture and smokeless coal), gas, and oil appliances with temperatures up to 600°C (T600 designation).

The chimney should be swept and inspected at least once a year, preferably twice for solid fuel appliances. Use a HETAS registered sweep and avoid chemical cleaners or mild steel tools on stainless steel chimneys.
