Building Regulations Document J mandates that flexible flue liners must be fully enclosed within a masonry chimney, making the Screw-FIX Long Tail Adaptor essential for compliance and safety.Suitable for use with multi-fuel appliances, this adaptor can handle temperatures up to 600°C, making it ideal for wood (with moisture content less than 20%), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances.

The adaptor should be installed completely within the existing masonry chimney, and it is imperative to use fire cement, ceramic rope, tape, or high-temperature sealant to ensure a secure and leak-free connection.Maintenance is straightforward, but it is crucial. Chimney systems should be designed to allow easy sweeping and maintenance access. Solid fuel applications require sweeping by a competent professional, ideally a HETAS registered sweep.

We recommend cleaning and inspecting the chimney at least once a year and sweeping twice a year for solid fuel systems to remove deposits and check for blockages.
