The Pot Hanging Cowl 1mm (Painted) - Ø 150 is part of the MF20 MI-FLEX range, expertly designed for compatibility with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners. This essential accessory helps form a complete and efficient chimney system. In compliance with Building Regulations Document J, this cowl ensures your flue liner is securely enclosed within a masonry chimney.

Suitable for use with wood (with less than 20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances up to 600°C, this cowl prevents the ingress of water, vermin, and birds into the flue. It is crucial for appliances that lack a condense drain, stopping excess water from passing through the system. The Pot Hanging Cowl also supports the flue liner’s vertical weight on the chimney structure, ensuring stability.

Proper maintenance is vital—cleaning and inspection should be carried out at least annually, and twice yearly for solid fuel applications, to prevent blockages and maintain optimal performance.

• Install within a masonry chimney as required by Building Regulations Document J; non-masonry enclosures are not compliant. • Ensure that the flue liner is properly aligned and securely supported by the cowl to maintain structural stability. • Regular cleaning is essential: conduct an annual inspection for most applications, and twice yearly for solid fuel systems. • It is recommended that a competent professional carries out both the installation and routine maintenance to ensure safety and optimal performance. • Always verify the condition of the chimney pot and surrounding structure before installation to avoid potential hazards.

The Pot Hanging Cowl is used to prevent water, vermin, and birds from entering the flue and to support the vertical weight of the flue liner within the chimney pot.

Yes, it is suitable for wood, smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances, provided the wood has less than 20% moisture content.

Regular cleaning and inspection of the chimney system should be done at least once a year, or twice yearly for solid fuel applications—at the end of the heating season and before it begins.

No, Building Regulations Document J requires that flexible flue liners be installed within masonry chimneys; non-masonry enclosures like timber or plasterboard are not acceptable.

The cowl prevents excess water from passing through the chimney system, which is particularly important for appliances without a condense drain, protecting them from potential water damage.

Yes, sweeping should be done by a competent professional. For solid fuel applications, a list of HETAS registered sweeps can be found at www.hetas.co.uk.

Ensuring the chimney pot and structure are in good condition prevents potential hazards and ensures the Pot Hanging Cowl can provide maximum support and protection.
