The Pot Hanging Cowl 1mm (Natural) - Ø 150 is an essential component for creating a fully efficient and reliable chimney system. Perfectly designed to work with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners, this pot hanging cowl ensures a robust and compliant chimney installation. According to Building Regulations Document J, a flexible flue liner must be installed inside a masonry chimney, making our product an ideal choice.

Its stunning natural finish complements any masonry chimney, ensuring durability and functionality in temperatures up to 600°C (T600 designation). Suitable for wood with moisture content below 20%, smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances, this cowl provides excellent protection against water, vermin, and bird ingress, supporting the vertical weight of the flue liner from the chimney pot. Make sure your chimney structure is sound and the pots are free from cracking, with appropriate flaunching.

Regular maintenance by a competent person is essential, particularly for solid fuel systems, where cleaning should occur twice yearly to prevent blockages and deposits. We recommend using HETAS registered sweeps for best results.

Before installation, ensure that the masonry chimney structure is sound, the chimney pot is free from cracks, and appropriate flaunching is in place at the top of the stack. This cowl is designed for use exclusively with masonry chimneys. Be sure to install a proper flexible flue liner inside the chimney in accordance with Building Regulations Document J. For solid fuel systems, routine maintenance such as bi-annual sweeping using HETAS registered sweeps is recommended to prevent blockages and buildup of deposits. Avoid the use of chemical cleaners or abrasive tools during maintenance to preserve the integrity of the cowl and flue liner.

A pot hanging cowl is used to support the vertical weight of a flexible flue liner at the chimney pot, while preventing water, vermin, and birds from entering the flue system.

It is compatible with wood (less than 20% moisture content), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances, and it's suitable for use up to temperatures of 600°C.

Regular maintenance includes sweeping at least once a year, ideally twice for solid fuel systems. Use HETAS registered sweeps and avoid chemical cleaners or mild steel tools.

No, it must be installed inside a masonry chimney. Non-masonry enclosures like timber or plasterboard are not acceptable under Building Regulations Document J.

Ensure your chimney structure is sound, chimney pots are crack-free, and appropriate flaunching is applied at the top of the stack.

Preventing water ingress is crucial to avoid water running back to the appliance, which could cause damage and reduce efficiency.

Solid fuel systems should be swept at least twice a year—once at the end of the heating season to remove deposits, and once at the start of the next to check for blockages.
