Before installation, ensure that the chimney opening is prepared to accommodate the gather hood. Begin by positioning the hood at the base of the chimney; the metal flaps are designed to be folded at right angles and securely screwed into the brickwork. Attach the flexible flue liner to the hood using the provided adaptor and seal the connection with fire cement, ceramic rope, or a high-temperature sealant to guarantee a gas-tight fit. It is essential that the installation is performed inside a masonry chimney and in compliance with Building Regulations Document J. Warning: Only use recommended cleaning tools for stainless steel components and avoid chemical cleaners or mild steel tools. Regular chimney sweeping—at least once annually—is advised for maintaining optimal performance and ensuring your safety.

The primary use of the London Gather Hood is to facilitate the transition from a fireplace opening to a flexible flue liner, ensuring efficient gas flow up the chimney.

This gather hood is specifically designed for use with Mi-Flex 316 and 904 flexible flue liners, ensuring optimal performance and safety.

Yes, the London Gather Hood complies with Building Regulations Document J and should be installed inside a masonry chimney for safety and efficiency.

The gather hood is suitable for use with wood (less than 20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances.

The gather hood should be installed at the base of the chimney with metal flaps folded at right angles and screwed into the brickwork. It should then be attached to the flexible flue liner using the provided adaptor.

The chimney system should be swept and inspected at least once a year by a competent person. For solid fuel applications, it's recommended to sweep the chimney twice a year, especially before and after the heating season, to ensure there are no blockages or deposits.

No, chemical cleaners or mild steel tools should not be used to sweep stainless steel chimneys. Always opt for appropriate cleaning tools and methods.
