The Gather Hood (300X200) - Ø 150 from our MI-FLEX range is meticulously designed to facilitate the efficient flow of gases from your open fireplace through the flexible flue liner. It is crafted to integrate seamlessly with MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liners, making it a crucial part of a complete chimney system. Building Regulations Document J mandates that flexible flue liners must be fully enclosed within a masonry chimney.

This gather hood meets those standards and is suitable for use with wood (with less than 20% moisture), smokeless coal, gas, and oil appliances, supporting temperatures up to 600°C (T600 designation). Installation is straightforward: the gather hood attaches itself at the base and top of the chimney chamber, securing into the brickwork with metal flaps. For optimal performance and to ensure a gas-tight seal, use fire cement, ceramic rope, tape, or high-temperature sealant at the connection points.

Regular maintenance and sweeping, performed by competent personnel, are crucial for the longevity and safety of your chimney system. We suggest bi-annual sweeps for solid fuel appliances to keep your system clear of deposits and blockages.

Installation should be carried out by a competent professional. The gather hood is designed to be attached at both the base and top of the chimney chamber. Secure the hood into the masonry using the provided metal flaps and screws. It is essential to apply a high-temperature sealant, such as fire cement, ceramic rope, or tape, at the connection points to create a gas-tight seal. Note that the product is intended solely for use in masonry chimneys compliant with Building Regulations Document J; non-masonry installations, such as timber or plasterboard enclosures, are not suitable. Regular maintenance and inspections are advised to ensure the longevity and safety of your chimney system.

A gather hood is used to create a larger area for the flow of gases to escape from an open fireplace and pass up through a flexible flue liner, ensuring efficient and safe ventilation.

The gather hood is attached to the base of the chimney and at the top of the chimney chamber. The metal flaps are folded at right angles and screwed into the brickwork, securing it in place.
