The VIT-Smooth 45° Elbow - Ø 100mm is a high-quality connecting flue pipe designed for gas, oil, and solid fuel appliances with temperatures up to 600°C. Perfect for creating smooth bends in your flue system, this single-skin pipe is crafted from zero-carbon steel and finished with a powder vitreous enamel in a sleek matt black. Ideal as a connecting pipe between your appliance and Flue Liner, Chimney Stack, or Twin Wall Flue System, VIT-Smooth should not be used to pass through ceilings or combustible walls.When installing, ensure no piece of VIT-Smooth is within 375mm of combustible materials like wood or plasterboard.
The smaller diameter of the pipe should always point downward to contain condensates within the flue system. The friction-fit joints do not require sealing, though jointing compounds (fire cement or high-temperature silicone sealant) can be used for added security. If you cut the VIT-Smooth, cover any exposed steel with high-temperature paint to prevent rusting.Regular maintenance, including inspection and cleaning of your chimney, is especially crucial for solid fuel applications.
Consider installing VIT-Smooth with access doors at changes of direction for easier maintenance. Regular chimney sweeping, at least once a year, is advisable for solid fuel appliances.
