The Gather Hood (400x300) - Ø 250 is an integral component in the installation of flexible flue liners, particularly above open fireplaces. Part of the robust MI-FLEX 316 and 904 flexible flue liner system, this gather hood ensures the effective escape and upward flow of gases through a chimney liner. The gather hood, crafted from high-quality materials suitable for use with wood (moisture <20%), smokeless coal, gas, and oil, can withstand temperatures up to 600°C (T600 designation). Building Regulations Document J mandates the use of a fully enclosed masonry chimney for installation. The gather hood comes with an adaptor that connects to the flexible flue liner, ensuring a secure fit. The base attachment to the chimney is facilitated by folding the metal flaps at right angles and securing them into the brickwork. For optimal performance, secure your connections with fire cement, ceramic rope, or a high-temperature sealant. Easy maintenance and sweeping provisions are built into the chimney system design. Remember, solid fuel chimneys should ideally be swept twice a year by a competent HETAS-registered sweep to prevent blockages and buildup.
